  • In 2011, Bishop Vasquez insisted that a public meeting on immigration be moved off Church property after discovering that one of the event speakers was a pro-abortion politician. The event was scheduled to take place at Christo Rey Catholic Church but was moved to a nearby recreation center following the news that U.S. Representative, Luis Gutierrez, a vocal abortion supporter, was slated to speak.
