“LGBT” ideology

Does not uphold Church teaching on “LGBT” ideology
  • According to a local TV news report in July 2018, a spokesperson for Stowe’s diocese said it is up to each parish to decide individually whether they are going to promote homosexuality and pro-“LGBT” teaching (LifeSiteNews)
  • Bishop Stowe serves as an ecclesial advisor to Fortunate Families, a radical gay-affirmative pro-same-sex “marriage” advocacy group founded in 2004 by the Catholic parents of a homosexual son. (Fortunate Families)
  • In June 2018, Bishop Stowe received an award from Lexington Fairness, a pro-gay, pro-LGBT group from Kentucky, for his “Commitment to Equality and Fairness.” (Fortunate and Faithful Families)
  • Lexington Catholic High School hired its first ever Director of Equity and Inclusion in 2017. The director promotes gender neutral activities, conducts diversity training, and teaches staff and students about bias and tolerance. According to the director, David Wu, Bishop Stowe has been “very supportive” of the work he is doing. (Lexington Catholic)
  • In 2017, Bishop Stowe thanked and congratulated a pro-homosexual Lexington-based group for their outreach at a local gay “Pride” interfaith event. (Joseph Sciambra)
  • Bishop Stowe strongly endorsed a book written by pro-gay Vatican consultant Fr. James Martin. The book does not mention the sinfulness of homosexual acts, fails to call on homosexual persons to live chaste lives, and demands the Church change its teaching on LGBT issues. (Harper Collins)
  • In 2017, Bishop Stowe spoke at a conference hosted by a radical pro-LGBT Catholic group that has been censured by the Vatican since 1999. Stowe told the organization that they have shown a “valuable expression of mercy” in calling on the Church to be “more inclusive.” The symposium was held in Chicago and featured workshops titled “Lesbian Nuns: Gift to the Church” and “Gay Men in Priesthood and Religious Life.” (LifeSiteNews)
