  • Bishop Zinkula published an article in 2018 which blamed clericalism for the clegy sexual abuse crisis. Although he conceded that about “80 percent of the survivors of clergy sexual abuse are male,” Zinkula denied the connection between homosexuality and sexual abuse because “most of the perpetrators didn’t consider themselves to be homosexual.” Zinkula wrote that he believes “the root cause of the problem is clericalism.” (The Catholic Messenger)
