After a Jesuit-run school in Archbishop Thompson’s archdiocese refused to let go of a teacher in a same-sex “marriage,” he stripped the school of its Catholic status. Thompson had directed the school to not renew the teacher’s contract. In a statement, he insisted that all Catholic school employees in the Archdiocese must “convey and be supportive of all teachings of the Catholic Church” in order to communicate “the fullness of Catholic teaching to students.”
